In Dog Song, there are many settings. Some of them are:

Russel's Home village: It is a typical Eskimo village, with the exception of the white men's culture. It has around twenty huts, with a snow mobile or two for each hut. It is located in the middle of Alaska, which plays an important part in other settings.
Oogruk's Hut: After Russel tells his dad how he feels about the snowmobiles, he spends most of his spare time in Oogruk's Hut. Oogruk's Hut has many ancient weapons that he has kept in perfect condition. He also has a fur rug with a meat closet outside.
Northern Alaska: This is where Russel's final challenges await him. This picture shown is an example of Northern Alaska. This is the place where Russel had to fight the cold, without a hut to keep warm in. This is also the place where Russel had to kill a polar bear and keep a woman alive. This picture might be calm, but Northern Alaska can be deadly!
